I am a trained facilitator. My original facilitation training was in the Technologies of Participation (ToPs) method, which is especially effective for building consensus within groups. I continue to hone my skills as a facilitator through education with Training for Change, and regularly facilitating team meetings and retreats for organizations.
I have experience in governance, fundraising, and organizational culture through my work advising organizations. I have served on the boards or leadership teams of Duke University, the Community Empowerment Fund, the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, and ReckonWith. I currently serve on the Board of Directors of the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice.
I previously developed capacity building services for Groundwork Project grantees, including creating monthly skill building opportunities for community organizers.
As a Project Manager at the Equal Justice Initiative, I supported the organizing efforts of over twenty Community Remembrance Project coalitions across thirteen states. I advised leaders in rural and urban communities as they power mapped and built relationships with key leaders in faith institutions, advocacy organizations, schools, businesses, and government. These relationships became the foundation for public education campaigns about the ongoing legacies of racial violence and exclusion.
